The new generation

A son of Chilli Morning, the only stallion to have won Badminton (pictured), will be on parade at the MARS Badminton Horse Trials at 4.30pm this afternoon (Friday).

Just Chilli is a son of Chilli Morning, the winner in 2015 with William Fox-Pitt, and out of a Master Imp mare. Just Chilli – ‘Snoopy’ – has won intermediate classes with his owner-breeder, Fred Powell, who will ride him in the parade. He now stands at Jane Holderness-Roddam’s West Kington Stud.

Laura Collett will ride the eight-year-old Future Guilty Pleasure; her ride in the Horse Trials, Hester, is expecting her first foal (by embryo transfer) by the stallion.

Other leading sires on parade include the grand-prix dressage stallion Timolin (by Totilas), ridden by Lizzie Murray, and his son Catherston Tuxedo. Also from the Catherston Stud is Catherston Oakley, whose pedigree includes the leading eventing sire Fleetwater Opposition.

Irish event rider Michael Ryan will be riding Diamant de Heraldik, a son of the renowned eventing sire Heraldik, who will be aimed at three-star eventing this season.
