The organisers of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials (May 8-12) are delighted to announce that Her Majesty The Queen will attend the final day and present the trophy to the winner on the occasion of the event’s 75th anniversary.
The Queen, who is Patron of British Equestrian, will join the celebrations on Sunday, May 12 to watch the final show jumping phase of the competition before presenting prizes to the winners.
Badminton Horse Trials was started in 1949 by the 10th Duke of Beaufort to prepare British riders for Olympic Games. Great Britain are the reigning Olympic champions in eventing and will be preparing to defend their title in Paris this summer.
Queen Elizabeth ll presented the Badminton trophy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, in 1999, to the winner, the five-time British Olympian Ian Stark.
