Patrick Whelan IRL

It is a first Badminton for busy Irish rider Patrick Whelan (28) who is based in Murrintown Co Wexford where he runs his own sales and production yard. With Badminton entry Ikoon Lan he completed his first 5* at Luhmuhlen last year and followed up with another 5* completion at Pau.

In 2024 with Altitu he was a member of the winning Nations Cup in Millstreet.  And has represented Ireland at the world young horse championships in Le Lions on four occasions.

Patrick trains with Harry Payne and enjoys playing soccer and squash.

Ikoon Lan is a 12-year-old Dutch-bred KWPN registered gelding. He is by Emilion out of mare by the well-known jumping sire Indoctro. He was acquired in 2022 from Irish team rider Cathal Daniels.
