Biography

The second visit for amateur Irish rider Lucy Latta (28) who enjoyed an impressive debut last year taking second place with RCA Patron Saint, wining the William Miflin trophy for the horse closet to the optimum time. Patron Saint also won his owner the SHB(GB) award for the best horse sired by an SHB(GB) graded stallion and his breeder Richard Ames the prize for the highest placed British-bred horse.

Lucy who is based in Co Wexford works full time as an Innovation Brand Manager for the canned drinks company White Claw.

Lucy is a former Irish Pony and Junior team medallist and in 2015 was Junior National Champion (Cleo Ferro). Due to work commitments, she currently has just the one horse.

Lucy comes from a horsey family; her Grandfather William Powell Harris competed at Badminton and Burghley in the early 70s and was reserve for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Her cousins Elizabeth and Robert Power are both leading equestrians. Elizabeth has completed Badminton on four occasions while Robert won the Grand National (2007 Silver Birch). Lucy trains with Elizabeth Power.

RCA Patron Saint (aka Paddy) is a British-bred SHB(GB) registered 14-year-old gelding. Bred by Richard Ames he is by Grafenstolz out of Summer Mist a mare of unrecorded breeding. Patron Saint was acquired by his owner, Lucy’s supporter Lesley Crampton, from the 2016 Go for Gold sale. Lucy gained the ride at the end of 2017 and has since produced the horse from pre-novice.
