Biography

It is a first Badminton for British rider Katie Magee (43) who is based near Barnard Castle in County Durham. In 2024 with Badminton entry Treworra Katie was 13^th at Pau 5* – a first 5* for horse and rider. Last year Katie won the British Novice Championship at Hartpury (Cushlas Indigo).

Katie studied physiotherapy at Teesside University. She comes from a non-horsey background and married non horsey Ciaran Magee who since meeting Katie has learnt to ride and now competes. The couple has a nine-year-old son. Katie trains with former team and Badminton rider Nicola Wilson

Treworra (aka Wilf) is an 11-year-old British-bred (SHB(GB) registered Gelding. Bred by Vin and Liz Jones of Preci-Spark he is by the leading sire Jaguar Mail (also the sire of Badminton entry Colorado Blue) out of a mare by the thoroughbred Tower of Magic. He was acquired by owner Angela Hislop as a four-year-old and Katie has produced him through the levels. He is described by Katie as ‘a gentle giant who loves sleeping with his field mate especially the day after an event’.
