Biography
British rider Harry Mutch (26) last competed here in 2019 completing the event on his debut with HD Bronze his entry this year also. Last year the pair was 8th at Bramham and they started at Burghley but did not complete albeit Harry completed on his second horse Shanbeg Cooley (28th).
Harry is based near Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear where he runs Harry Mutch Eventing Ltd. Harry started riding at the age of eight and completed his first season of eventing in 2013 aged 16. HD Bronze was acquired in Ireland as a five-year-old and as Harry had only been riding for a year was given to David Herron to start eventing – he was then competed by Kirsty Cordner for one season and Emily Galbraith. Harry took the ride in 2015 after the horse had recovered from a chipped stifle since when he has been placed at every level. He is described as ‘sensitive and tricky but a cross country machine’.
Harry trains with Christopher Bartle and outside of eventing enjoys riding his motorbike and walking his dog.
His Great-Uncle, Eric Thompson, completed Badminton on several occasions.
HD Bronze is an Irish-bred 18-year-old gelding. He is by the successful Holstein sire Limmerick (sire of several 5* horses including Magennis, Lara’s Song, Shannondale Titan, Loughan Glen, Graf Liberty) out of a mare by the thoroughbred Toca Madera (Taufan-Ribero). He was acquired from Ireland as a five-year-old.
