Biography

It is a third visit for French rider Arthur Marx (31) and Church’lle who have yet to complete. At the end of last year, the combination completed Pau 5*.

Arthur is based in Bleury Saint Symphorien (south west of Paris) where he runs his own yard. In 2022 with Church’Ile he completed Pau (23^rd) a first 5* for horse and rider.

Arthur who also works in a stationary shop every morning, is keen on racing and football. He is married to Margaux and the couple has a four-year-old daughter.

Church’Ile is a 13-year-old homebred French bred Selle Francais. Bred by Arthur and his father Philippe Marx he is by Grafentolz (also the sire of Lordships Graffalo, Grafennacht, Ellfield Voyager, RCA Patron Saint) out of Ile D’Ohe by Apache D’Adriers – a grand prix jumper son of Double Espoir, Apache was long-listed for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Philippe Marx rode the dam and the grandam. Church’Ile has been produced by Arthur and is the first 5* horse for the rider.
