Biography
British rider Hector Payne (31) completed his first Badminton last year on his debut with Dynasty (42nd) – his entry again this year. Hector is based near Andover in Hampshire where he runs his own yard. In 2020 the pair completed their first 5* at Pau – last year they gained third place at the event.
In 2021 shortly before Luhmuhlen 5* Hector broke his femur in a fall keeping him out of action for most of the summer.
Hector is one of four boys who all rode and the family has been involved in eventing. His eldest brother represented GB at the Junior Europeans. His father and grandmother owned Ballincoola who with William Fox-Pitt won Burghley (2005).
Hector previously worked for William Fox-Pitt taking over the reins on several horses in the aftermath of William’s accident in 2015.
Hector is a member of the BE Podium Potential Pathway squad. He trains with Ian Woodhead.
Hector enjoys a round of golf, all sport particularly horse racing, rugby and formula 1.
Dynasty owned by Jeremy and Judith Skinner and David and Margie Hall, is a 14-year-old Dutch-bred KWPN registered gelding. He is jumping bred by Whitesnake out of a mare by Calvados. He was formerly produced by William Fox-Pitt with who he was 3rd in the 2015 Young Horse 7-year-old championship at Osberton. Hector took the competitive ride the following year.
