Biography
British rider Tom Rowland (33) has three Badminton completions from three visits. Tom who is based near Cirencester where he runs his own yard, made a successful debut here in 2019 and completed again in 2022 and 2023 when he gained his best result with Possible Mission (19th). This year he has two entries; Dreamliner with who he was 5th at Blenheim last year and KND Steel Pulse with who he completed Pau – the horses first 5*.
After leaving school in nearby Tetbury, Tom spent two years with Angela Tucker followed by work experience with Pippa Funnell and Nigel Taylor. Aged 14 he acquired Hennessey Cormac who he produced through the grades and in 2015 Tom completed his first four-star with the horse at Pau. For six seasons he was based near Cheltenham and in 2017 moved to his current premises near Cirencester. In 2018 Tom and Possible Mission completed their first 5* at Burghley.
Tom is a self-confessed eventing geek – he claims to be able to list every winner of Badminton.
KND Steel Pulse is a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse. Bred by Kevin Daly he is by Tinaranas Inspector out of Lady by Lux Z. He was acquired by Tom as a three-year-old from Padraig McCarthy.
Dreamliner is a British-bred SHB(GB) registered 14-year-old gelding. He was bred by his owner Angela and Mark Chamberlayne and is by Jumbo out of Doff Gudanov by the thoroughbred Baryshnikov. Doff Gudanov had three offspring by Jumbo the other two Globemaster and Starliner are competing at 4&3* with Clare Chamberlayne. Dreamliner was previously ridden by Oliver Townend for three seasons with who he won Chatsworth and Burnham Market and was second in the 4*L at Ballindenisk. The Chamberlaynes previously owned Badminton horses Henry Tankerville and Whitmonday both ridden by Andrew Nicholson.
