Biography
British rider Nana Dalton (40), who is based in Northchapel, West Sussex, completed her first Badminton in 2015 with Absolut Opposition. Last year the pair gained a second completion and then completed Burghley also.
As Susannah Barker, Nana represented Great Britain at the 1999 Young Rider European Championships in Necarne, winning team silver on Romany Tinca. Romany Tinca is the dam of Nana’s current three-star horse Romany Piper (by Crown Cornelian) with who she hopes to do a four-star this year. In 2015, with Abbeylara Prince, she won the Nations Cup competition in Waregem.
Nana trains with Australian team rider Christopher Burton and Yogi Breisner. Nana works her eventing round family life – she has a son, Toby (6). In her spare time she loves watching rugby, racing and cricket and enjoys skiing.
Absolut Opposition (aka Miley) is a 14-year-old British-bred gelding bred by Rosie Glaister. He is by the well-known eventing sire Fleetwater Opposition (sire of many eventers including former team horse Opposition Buzz, the stallion Yarlands Summersong, and Wellshead Fare Opposition). He is out of Ruffo’s Star formerly competed by Nana. Ruffo’s Star was by the thoroughbred Ruffo, sire of Riva Ruel ridden by Nana’s sister Patricia Price to complete Badminton in 2005. Nana has backed and produced Miley since a four-year-old.
