Biography
British rider Louisa Milne Home (39) from Milnathort in Kinross in central Scotland last competed at Badminton in 2015 and gained a third completion with King Eider. In total the pair has eight four-star completions – three Badmintons, four Burghleys and a Luhmuhlen.
After graduating from the Royal Agricultural College in 2001 Louisa returned north to run her own training and competition yard. In this time she has produced several horses to advanced level, and formerly qualified Kings Berry for Badminton. In 2011 she completed her first Burghley with King Eider. In 2012 the pair won the Advanced class at Eglington (her second advanced horse Porthill Rusty Nail was second) and in 2013 the combination completed their first Badminton. She now also showjumps and in 2018 with Harry DV competed in the Foxhunter and Grade C final at HOYS (Horse of the Year Show).
Louisa trains with David Gatherum and Albert Van Schie. Louisa’s sister Beanie is a professional skier and her brother is a helicopter pilot.
King Eider (formerly Quattro Van De Kwakkelhoek) owned by the rider, is a 19-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding. He is by the international show jumping stallion Toulon (by Heartbreaker) out of a mare by the Holstein show jumper Capital 010 (by Capitol). King Eider was bought as four-year-old from her show jumping trainer Alistair Gatherum who bought him from Belgium, aged two. King Eider is one of nine offspring for his dam and has five full brothers and sisters several of which have been successful showjumpers in Europe and America. He did his first four-star in 2011 and has eight four-star completions.
