Biography
It is a first Badminton for American rider Hannah Sue Burnett (30) who is based in The Plains, Virginia where she runs HSB Eventing.
Hannah Sue grew-up riding alongside her mother, Sue, in Shelbyville, KY and at a young age developed an aptitude for eventing. She first tasted success with Keep the Faith with who she contested her first three star in 2006 and the following year her first four-star (Lexington).
From 2008 to 2011 she worked for her trainers Karen and David O’Connor during which time she rode St. Barths with who she won the USEF National CCI2* Championship at Fair Hill and in 2010 the USEF National CCI3* Championship. In 2011 the combination was eighth at Lexington.
With Harbour Pilot, she was a member of the Gold medal-winning team at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico and also won individual silver. The following year they won the Fair Hill CCI3*, claiming the USEF Three-Star National Championship title. In 2014 the combination was 15th at Lexington and later that year competed at Burghley but Harbour Pilot was withdrawn before showjumping.
Harbour Pilot, (stable name William) owned by his breeder Jaqueline B Mars, is a 14-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding. Born at William Micklems yard in Ireland he is by the grand prix showjumper Cruising, sire of many showjumpers and event horses (including Electric Cruise, Mr Cruise Control, Mr Medicott, First Mate) and out of the thoroughbred mare Shannon by Catch on Fire. He came to America as a four-year-old and Hannah Sue took the ride in 2010 when he was seven.
