Biography

British-based Canadian rider Kathryn Robinson (31) was a member of the team to compete at the Rio Olympic Games. Last year with Let it Bee, Kathryn who is based near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, completed her first Badminton.

Kathryn was born in Canada – her mother is Canadian and her father British – although the family moved to the UK soon after when her father inherited a farm in Northamptonshire.

She began riding at a local riding school and became keen and competitive member of the Woodland Pytchley Pony Club. After finishing A levels and an arts foundation course she began eventing, aged 19, while based as a working pupil with Jamaican international Sam Albert. She then worked a season apiece with racehorse trainers Roger Charlton and Alan King.

In 2011 Kathryn competed in the Greenwich test event and was short-listed for London 2012 and in 2014 was selected for the WEG but was unable to compete because of a technical hitch with the paperwork. Later that year with Let It Bee she gained her best result when the pair was 7th at Pau four-star. In 2015 the pair was selected for the Pan Am Games but was eliminated after a fall having been placed second after dressage.

Together with her partner Italian rider Giovanni Uglotti Kathryn runs Cranford Stud Eventing, producing horses for the sport.  Kathryn enjoys racing and socialising.

Let It Bee, owned by Gayle Robinson and rider, is a 16-year-old German-bred Westphalian gelding by Lamerto (a son of Linaro) out of Baroness by the influential sire Brentano II.  He was acquired from Germany as a seven-year-old
