Biography
Former British team rider Jeanette Brakewell (42) is based near Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. With Lets Dance she completed Badminton last year.
Jeanette is best known for her enduring partnership with Over To You; they were Britain’s international team trailblazers for a number of years and won eight consecutive championship medals including individual silver at the WEG in Jerez (2002), four European team gold medals (’99, ’01, ’03 & ’05) and two Olympic team silver medals. The pair shares the record for the greatest number of Badminton completions by a single combination – seven – where they finished in the top ten five times.
The daughter of a Lancashire dairy farmer Jeanette left school at 16 to fulfil her dream of being an Olympic rider. She now runs a busy competition yard near Uttoxeter and is a BE accredited trainer. Jeanette trains with John Bowen and lists her hobby as DIY!
Lets Dance, owned by her breeder Ruth Williams, is a 13-year-old British-bred mare. She is by the AES stallion Croft Another Love (a grandson of Grannus) out of a mare by Leuchtfeuer. She was formerly ridden by showjumper Mary Marsh who took her to CCI1*. Mary also rode the full sister, Pearls a Singer, who was recently ridden to intermediate by Camilla Hope. The breeder Ruth Williams completed Badminton herself (many years ago).
