Biography
Danish amateur rider Hanne Wind Ramsgaard (39), who is based near Ringkobing on the west coast of Jutland in the north of Denmark, made her Badminton debut in 2016 completing with Vestervangs Arami, her entry this year.
The pair was a member of the Danish team for the 2017 European Championships in Strzegom and competed as individuals at the 2015 European Championships at Blair Castle (33rd).
Hanne trained as a carpenter and works as a maintenance engineer at Global Castings, a company specialising in the production of cast products for the wind industry.
Hanne started riding aged 10 and took up eventing in 2008 and with her first horse, the skewbald Lucky Luke, reached two-star. In 2014 with Arami she completed her first four-star at Pau, the pair completed Badminton in 2016 and later that year won the Danish championship.
Hanne trains with Peter Flarup and Mette Bloch Christiansen.
Vestervangs Arami, owned by the rider, is a 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding. He is by the Holstein sire Akinos (sire of the international grand prix dressage horse Akeem Foldager) out of a mare by Ragazzo (who in later life stood in the UK at Hartpury College Stud). Arami was bought by Hanne as a six month foal from a local breeder originally for dressage. He has been produced through the grades by Hanne. In 2011 they competed in the Young horse championships at Le Lions. Hanne describes him as quite spooky and ‘a bit weird’ – he is a lamb in the stable but turns into a lion in the start box – and she ‘loves him to bits’.
