Biography
American rider Bruce Davidson Jnr (39 – known as Buck), last competed at Badminton in 2011. With Ballynoe Castle RM he was a member of the American team for the WEG in France.
Buck, the son of 1995 Badminton winner and 1974 Burghley winner and former World Champion Bruce Davidson Snr, started his equestrian career hunting and timber racing. He came to attention in eventing in 1995 aged 19 when he took fifth place at the Rolex/Kentucky CCI4* winning the USET’s Markham Trophy as the highest placed Young Rider.
In 2004 he left his father’s yard to set up on his own and is now based in Florida during the winter and Riegelsville Pennsylvania in the summer, with wife and assistant trainer Andrea (nee Leatherman). The couple has a baby daughter (Aubrey) born in March this year.
In 2011 he was the number one ranked rider in the USA.
The Apprentice is a 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding. He is by the Holstein Casado out of a mare by Fernblick
